Weather in Los Cabos: A Season-by-Season Guide for Travelers

July 10, 2026 Cabo Drive Safe

Los Cabos sits at the very tip of the Baja California Sur peninsula, where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez. This unique geography creates a warm, desert-like climate that makes it a year-round destination. But each season has its own personality, and knowing what to expect can help you plan the perfect trip.

Winter (December to March)

Winter is peak season in Los Cabos, and for good reason. While much of the world is dealing with snow and freezing temperatures, Los Cabos enjoys warm, sunny days with average highs between 75°F and 80°F (24°C to 27°C). Nights are mild, dipping into the low 60s°F (around 16°C).

This is the dry season, so rain is rare. The skies are almost always clear, and the ocean water is comfortable enough for swimming and snorkeling. It is also the best time for whale watching, as humpback whales migrate to the warm waters of the Sea of Cortez to breed.

What to pack: Light layers, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a light jacket for cooler evenings.

Spring (April to June)

Spring is one of the most underrated times to visit Los Cabos. The crowds from winter begin to thin out, but the weather remains fantastic. Daytime temperatures climb into the low to mid-80s°F (28°C to 30°C), and the water temperature starts to warm up, making it ideal for water activities.

Rain is still minimal during spring, and the humidity stays low. This is a great time for outdoor adventures like deep-sea fishing, ATV tours, and golf. The sunsets during spring are particularly stunning, painting the sky in shades of orange and pink over the Pacific.

What to pack: Breathable clothing, a hat, reef-safe sunscreen, and comfortable walking shoes.

Summer (July to October)

Summer brings the hottest temperatures of the year, with highs regularly reaching the mid-90s°F (35°C). It is also the start of the monsoon season, known locally as "chubascos." These are brief, intense rainstorms that usually arrive in the afternoon or evening and pass quickly. The mornings are typically sunny and clear.

The humidity increases during summer, but the ocean breeze keeps things comfortable along the coast. The Sea of Cortez warms up to around 85°F (29°C), making it perfect for swimming, kayaking, and paddleboarding. Summer is also whale shark season in La Paz, a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Despite the heat, summer is a wonderful time to visit if you enjoy fewer tourists and lower prices. Many hotels and tour operators offer excellent deals during this period.

What to pack: Lightweight, moisture-wicking clothing, a rain jacket or poncho, plenty of sunscreen, and a refillable water bottle.

Fall (November)

Fall is a transitional period in Los Cabos. The summer rains wind down, the humidity drops, and temperatures begin to cool slightly. Highs are typically in the mid-80s°F (around 30°C), and the evenings become pleasantly cool again.

This is one of the best-kept secrets for visiting Los Cabos. The crowds have not yet arrived for the winter season, the weather is beautiful, and the ocean is still warm from the summer. It is an excellent time for fishing, as marlin and sailfish are abundant in the waters off the coast.

What to pack: Similar to spring. Light clothing, sunscreen, and a light layer for the evenings.
